James Adams, “PaPa” as called by his 7 grands, wears others titles: namely,
Dad, Uncle James, UJ, Brother Adams, Mr. Adams, and Captain Adams, before retiring from the San Antonio Fire Department, a title he wore for sixteen years.
James A. Adams was born in San Antonio, Texas in the Santa Rosa Hospital on September 27, 1948 to the late Woodrow Adams and the late Mamie Gyden Adams.
After graduating from Highlands High School in May 1967, James entered
Oklahoma Christian College on a track scholarship. After a year, he transferred to Howard County Junior College in Big Springs, TX, from there he left school and entered the work force.
On January 14, 1972, James married Lessie Lee Comeaux of Houston, Texas. James and Lessie have two daughters and one son—Alovya Adams Freelon, Keri Adams Brady, and Nathan J. Adams Sr (Marie). God has blessed them with 7 adorable grandchildren. He has one sister, Linda Adams, who lives in PearLand, Texas.
James is a faithful member of the Dellcrest Church of Christ. He has been a faithful member of DCC since he was a young man. He has devoted his time and talent to several ministries. Since 1983, he has ordained as a Deacon of the Dellcrest Church of Christ.
As Deacon, he served several as minister of music, Adult Choral director,
congregational song leader, Health Ministry Coordinator, Safety and Security Coordinator, Senior High School Bible teacher, Adult Bible School teacher. In 2005, he was ordained as an elder.
James is a computer enthusiast. He loves designing Records Management Systems using MS Access. He built the 1 st Records Management Systems utilized by DCC. He built and maintained Records Managements Systems for about 4 congregations. He also designed a Records management System for the San Antonio Fire Department services Division.
